In any relationship we are in, weather it is with a spouse or friend, we all know that it takes commitment for that relationship to work. Both the individuals must invest time, effort, and love to show the other person the value they have in their relationship. One person can’t do everything; they have to meet each other halfway.

I believe stories are very powerful. I think we can all learn from each others stories if
we just take time to listen. This is the story of someone who is very near and dear to my heart.
I hope her story will impact you as much as it has impacted me.

This summer has been great. Part of the reason why I have enjoyed it so much is because of the people I have cherished it with. I just graduated high school, and I know that I will lost touch with a lot of the people I have grown up with. I do not want this to happen. The people I have met and learned from in high school are special to me because of how they have helped me grow, and the memories I shall never forget. This is why I have intentionally made an effort to hang out with different people this summer that I know I am going to lose touch with anyway. This way, by hanging out with them during the summer, I am keeping the friendship alive. And once school starts, hopefully we will still be able to chill every once in a while…even if it just by sitting at Starbucks and doing homework. As long as I see their faces and see what they are up to, that is fine with me

“Live life, have no regrets. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. Just HAVE FUN!”
We have all heard this. It’s very cliche. And quite frankly, it’s very true. However, the way that most people take this advice is different than how I choose to perceive it.When I hear this or give this advice myself, I’m not talking about getting wasted…do what I want & when I want..going to parties all the time..and just “having fun.” Your fun and my fun may mean totally different things, lol.

Eight hours a day, five days a week, and one hundred seventy-nine days a year, I’ve been going to school with the same people since the first grade. I honestly don’t know where the time went. I can’t believe there are only twenty-six school days left of my primary education; and I am finally off to the “real world.”
Looking back at the past twelve years of my life, makes me want to address the issue of time. Why do we constantly want more of it? Why are we always asking for what is to come ahead in our life? Why can’t we just be happy where we are today?
I remember in elementary school, I had some of my best times. I remember playing Sailor Moon in the second grade; as pretend was our world. Recess and lunch were times to play handball, not times to run around trying to talk to your counselor about your schedule or your teacher about your missing assignments. I actually slept more than eight hours a night. Chinese jump rope was our hobby. And I just… enjoyed the moment. Life was all about play.

“A wise man learns from his own mistakes, but a wiser man learns from the mistakes of others.” The common language amongst our youth is to “live life” and “experience.” This may be true in the context that it is used in. However, I believe a wiser man, as the quote above states, learns from others’ mistakes. I believe it is very intelligent and necessary to watch older and experienced people in our lives to learn more about ourselves, choosing the characteristics we find best to inherit. This is difficult to accomplish when a vast majority of our youth consume most of their time with peers close to their own range of age and comfort. Continue Reading »
